Welcome to the Sitekeeper 3.5 third-party firewall support section.

Sitekeeper communicates with other computers through ports 135, 139 and 445 to manage their software and hardware inventory as well as their patch (or update) status. It is necessary to open these ports in any third-party firewall to enable the basic operation of Sitekeeper.

The recent release of Service Pack 2 for Windows XP contains a number of security-related enhancements to the operating system and by default, enables the firewall on the computer on which is it installed. Some of these enhancements affect the operation of certain network functionality in Sitekeeper.

If Sitekeeper 3.5 or Sitekeeper 3.5 Agent are installed on computers that already have Windows XP SP2 installed, no further firewall configuration is needed on those computers.

If a third-party firewall is enabled on any computer that does not have Sitekeeper agent running on it, Port 135, 139, 445 and 31040 must be enabled.

If a third-party firewall is enabled on any computer running Sitekeeper agent, Port 31042 and 31040 must be enabled.

If you are using the Windows Firewall provided by Windows XP SP2, please check winfirewall.aspx  to learn how to configure multiple systems through a remote login script or through Group Policy.

After properly configuring your network and firewall settings, if you are still running into trouble using Sitekeeper, check with your firewall provider to see what other actions can be taken to use third-party software in conjunction with the firewall. If you are still running into issues please write to us at Tech_support@diskeeper.com.
