Diskeeper 2007 solutions for Microsoft Vista Diskeeper 2007 - Enhancing File System Performance - Automatically!

Diskeeper Corporation has announced Microsoft Windows Vista™ platform support for the Diskeeper product line. It is a free update for licensed Diskeeper customers, as well as customers with current maintenance contracts.

Please Note: The free Microsoft Windows Vista update is only available for Diskeeper customers and maintenance customers. If you do not have Diskeeper, purchase Diskeeper today.

To migrate your Diskeeper license to your new Windows Vista computer please do the following.

1. From your Windows Vista PC, get the latest Diskeeper software from http://www.diskeeper.com/downloads/downloads-r.asp

  • Be sure to download correct trialware edition. For example, if you own Diskeeper Pro Premier, make sure to download the latest Diskeeper Pro Premier trialware.

2. Next, you will need the Diskeeper License file (License.dal) you received with your initial purchase (if you purchased from the internet), or you will need the 29-digit License Key (from the sticker on the back of the CD sleeve) if you purchased a boxed product from a retail store or other reseller. This is the same License Key or License File received and used with your original purchase – you do not need a new one.

3. If you have an electronic license (License.dal), transfer it to the Windows Vista PC (e.g. via a USB thumb drive) and place it in the same directory (folder) as the trialware you have download (as shown above).

  • If you cannot immediately locate the license files, you can do a Windows Search (on the PC that you initially installed Diskeeper too) for the file called exactly “License.dal”.

4. Install the new Diskeeper software on your Windows Vista computer by clicking on the Diskeeper file.

  • If you have an electronic license file, the new installation will automatically become a full working installation of Diskeeper on your Windows Vista computer.
  • If you purchase from a retail store, the installation process will prompt you for the License Key exactly as it did during your previous installation on a pre-Vista operating system.

5. After launching the software for the first time you will be prompted to activate. This process takes about 2 seconds if you have an internet connection on the computer. Offline activation options are also available. For owners of boxed product this is the same process as previously required.

  • For more information about software activation, please visit the Diskeeper Corporation FAQ pages.

If you are volume license customer, the process works the same as described above. Note that you should only be working with electronic license files. The same license file can be used.
