defragmentation

More on defragmenters

What is defragmentation and why do I need it?

Disk fragmentation occurs when a file is broken up into pieces to fit on the disk. Because files are constantly being written, deleted and resized, fragmentation is a natural occurrence. When a file is spread out over several locations, it takes longer to read and write. But the effects of fragmentation are far more widespread: Slow PC performance, long boot-times, random crashes and freeze-ups – even a complete inability to boot up at all. Many users blame these problems on the operating system or simply think their computer is “old”, when hard disk fragmentation is most often the real culprit.

Diskeeper® 2010 performance technology can prevent up to 85% of all fragmentation before it happens. When what you really want is a fast, efficient computer system, fragmentation prevention is far and away a better defragmentation. Right off the bat a computer saves all the resources that would have been wasted writing fragmented files to a disk. For prior fragmentation and for the slight amount that isn’t prevented, Diskeeper has powerful defragmentation engines that run in real-time with zero resource conflicts.

Consequently, computers have less downtime, shorter boot times, faster access rates and require less administration. Server and workstation life expectancy increases by an additional one to three years. Diskeeper’s impact on the bottom line is significant. It is real relief from many trouble tickets and premature hardware upgrades. Servers and workstations can be run at peak speed without accumulating fragmentation – saving you time and money.
